I don’t like talking about my military service, is this going to focus only on that?

Not at all. While we respectfully honor your service, the interview is about your entire life journey, from childhood and family to personal values, career, and beyond. You’re always in control of what you choose to share. Many veterans find it meaningful to reflect on their full story, not just their time in uniform.

I’ve seen and experienced difficult things.  What if I don’t want to talk about certain memories?

That’s absolutely okay. We never push or pry. You can skip any topics that feel too personal or painful. This process is about honoring your life on your terms, and we guide the conversation with sensitivity and respect at every step.

I don’t think my story is that special, is it really worth recording?

Your story matters more than you know. Even everyday experiences like basic training, friendships, deployments, coming home are a valuable part of history and legacy. What seems ordinary to you can be extraordinary to your children, grandchildren, and future generations who want to understand your journey.

I’m not sure I want to be on camera, what if I feel uncomfortable?

You won’t be alone. We guide the interview in a way that feels more like a conversation than a performance. We help you feel at ease and always treat your story with dignity. Most veterans tell us they were surprised by how comfortable and even rewarding the experience turned out to be.

I’m not doing this for recognition. What’s the real benefit for me or my family?

This isn’t about recognition, it’s about preservation. It’s a way to share your values, lessons, and legacy while you’re here to tell it in your own words. For your family, it’s a priceless gift. For you, it can be an empowering moment of reflection, closure, or even pride in the path you’ve walked.
